“Rediscovering Kate Carew”

CASTING

Former French Heavyweight boxing champion, Christophe Mendy has been cast as famed heavyweight boxing champion, Jack Johnson in the upcoming film, Rediscovering Kate Carew.

In retirement, Christophe now enjoys his time by sharing his passion and love for the sport of boxing with youth organizations and personalized training. Christophe maintains a fierce training regiment while taking part in various film and television projects, as well as causes which promote youth enrichment and fitness.

Happenings..

Recent benefit guests screened clips from the upcoming film, Rediscovering Kate Carew, at a benefit/support party on 7/10/14 in NYC.

 

Event guests also had the pleasure of playing ‘Kitty Hawk: Balsa Flyer’ in a nod to Kate Carew’s interview with the Wright Brothers…guests attempted to glide their flyers to safety, and in return win a limited edition tee.

The film production moves into high gear this year is launching fund-raising with this event.

Special performance of scenes from a risqué melodrama about prostitutes and Bowery lowlife that were so common at the turn of century the genre was called the brothel play. Then – as now – America worried and obsessed about the modern woman, sex in the city and women’s rights. Kate Carew wrote and drew about these issues in 1910, highlighting the abuse of streetwalkers, some of whom were called ‘white slaves’. Vice as social issue and drama.
